Close to 750 people have signed an online petition opposing plans for an amusement arcade to be opened in Fermoy; while a public meeting to allow members of the public give their opinions on the plans will be held next week.

A planning application was submitted to Cork County Council in late August by Fun Junction (Fermoy) Ltd, a company linked to Perks who were granted permission for an amusement arcade in the town earlier this year. Those particular plans however, were subsequently shelved.

The present application is seeking the change of use of an existing ground floor unit at Corrin Court at the junction of the Cork Road and the Duntahane Road from retail use to amusement arcade.

A decision of the planning application is expected to be made in late October …
