The plaudits are coming thick and fast for departing priest, Fr Bobby Power. While it has nothing to do with outstanding individuals such as Fr Bobby, there’s a growing realisation that the existing pool of clerics is drying up at an alarming rate.
In this instance, south Tipperary’s loss is Waterford City’s gain, as Fr Bobby’s stint serving parishioners in Ballyporeen, Clogheen and Burncourt is formally at an end.
The encouraging news is that the Tramore native is being replaced. A half twin, Fr Bobby has an extensive CV that includes service in the Nire Valley, St John’s, Cappoquin, Clonmel and Ardfinnan.
