Rosie’s first success as campers are rescued from Glengarra

SEMRA set up a command centre on Saturday night in Glengarra Woods carpark.

Rescue dog, Rosie has successfully completed her first mission with her handler Helen, as the duo were involved in a search and rescue with SARDA in Glengarra Woods near Burncourt on Saturday evening.

A number of campers were reported missing to emergency services late on Saturday, after they had failed to come to their designated pick-up point. Earlier that day, other campers had joined forces with their family to search the lower areas of the woods after the missing group failed to show.

Eventually the missing campers’ family contacted the emergency services and the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) were contact by the gardaí at about 8.10pm; the first SEMRA crew were scouting the tracks and the Galtee Mountain Lodge about 30 minutes later. As more SEMRA members joined the search, a command centre was established at the Glengarra Woods carpark to coordinate efforts.
