Bartlemy greyhound owner Gerard (Ger) Gubbins experienced a big win last Friday at the Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium with his dog, Hollyhill Sonny.
Running in the JAG Building Services and Kilkenny Greyhound Owners & Breeders Derby Final, Hollyhill Sonny was victorious in the Grade 1 525 yards flat race.
Starting out at a price of 10/1, the dog made an ‘unexpected’ win, according to Ger, securing the first prize of €9,000
“We weren’t expecting it, he was a 10/1 outsider. He was running out of trap one, that’s his trap, he likes to stay on the rail. We were hoping he’d be in the top three,” Ger said.
