Ballygiblin National School 2nd class pupil, Róisín McCarthy, who lost her little sister to cancer this summer, has raised thousands for charity Oscar’s Kids through a GoFundMe page, titled ‘Remembering Courageous Clódagh’ and earlier this week, led a fundraiser at her school, a ‘Golden Day,’ to help shine a light on her late sister, Clódagh’s life.

Golden Day on Tuesday, September 30th, also coincided with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, giving the local event added significance.

Clódagh McCarthy was just six years old when she tragically passed on July 25th, after a courageous battle with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a rare and aggressive brain tumour. Her death has left a huge void in the hearts of her parents, Siobhán and Rob, her younger sister Róisín, her extended family and the entire  community.
