The loss of Glenroe National School in South Limerick continues to have a major affect on the community there.

An application last year to the Department of Education and Skills to have the school re-opened for September 2018, proved unsuccessful.

However, a number of people attached to the Glenroe National School Working Group, travelled to Dáil Éireann recently to meet Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh TD to discuss the re-opening of Glenroe National School as a Community National School under the patronage of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB).
