Over the weekend, a video surfaced online of an altercation which took place on Fermoy’s MacCurtain Street on Friday night.

The video, which appears to be taken during the night, shows a group of over 20 people on the street, with a number of individuals fighting.

As the group walk along the footpath, heading west towards the Cork road, the altercation can be seen moving out onto the road. Two individuals can be seen attempting to strike one another, however, the altercation is quickly broken up.

An enquiry was issued to An Garda Síochana to which a response stated that Gardaí and emergency services are investigating an assault that occurred on MacCurtain Street in Fermoy at approximately 11.45pm on Friday, September 3.

“One male aged in his 20s was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained as a result of this incident. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson said.
