Mitchelstown was very quick off the mark this year with the official switch on of the Christmas lights taking place on Friday evening last.
Fortunately, it was fine and dry allowing revellers, mainly families, enjoy these well organised proceedings. MC Maurice Walsh did the honours in his inimitable style.
The honour of hitting the switch this year was given to Kathleen and Prionsias Condon, whose drapery shop has traded successfully in the town for the last 90 years.
