Dairygold’s town traffic to reduce as new link road approved

Dairygold in Castle Farm have been granted planning permission for a new link road within the industrial site for heavy vehicles to travel from the production plant to the company’s own wastewater treatment plant, which should reduce the number of lorries travelling through the town.

The planning was approved recently by Cork County Council. Separately, planning has been submitted by the company for over six hectares of solar panels.

The current development has no direct road between the wastewater treatment plant and the main Dairygold complex. This means that HGVs are in some cases, according to the feasibility report in the application documents, travelling through the town and into the site via King Square. Furthermore, workers on foot in Dairygold are also forced to walk on the public road rather than using an onsite, internal footpath.
