This week at Corrin mart we continue our journey into the world of online selling! Numbers appearing are increasing each week as you’d expect at this time of the year and are actually up on last year.
I point this out just to assure people that trust is increasing all the time in this new way of selling livestock, thankfully, as it is the only way we have to hold auctions for these number of very important – and very busy – weeks.
It’s all go each week here at Corrin. Monday brings the sheep sale, followed by Tuesdays main cattle sale. From next Wednesday, February 3, we have the calf sale and finishing the week with a dairy sale on Friday.

DRY COWS
A huge number of dry cows appeared for our sale this week and trade was brisk, demand was high and last week’s improved trade was maintained.
Store cows: 400 to 550kgs making from €1.10 per kilo to €1.60 per kilo; heavier cows: 550kgs+ making from €1.25 per kilo up to €1.80 per kilo; Friesian 670kg €1,030; Friesian 720kg €1,000; Friesian 790kg €1,120.
BULLOCKS
The bullock trade was exceptionally lively again this week. The larger numbers offered, meant a wide variety of buyers were available to insure great demand for all lots.
Light stores: under 350kgs made from €1.50 per kilo for plain Friesians up to €2.40 for continental bullocks. With AA/Her types making from €1.90 per kilo up to €2.20 per kilo.
Medium stores: 350kgs to 500kgs starting at €1.56 for Friesian up to €2.33 per kilo for continentals. AA/Her bullocks made from €1.95 up to €2.24 per kilo.
Frwd stores: 500 to 600kgs. These weights, again this week, were the most in demand bullocks. The plainer Friesian started at €1.52 per kilo up to €2.30 per kilo for Lim. Her/AA made from €1.90 up to €2.19 per kilo.
AA 380kgs €840; Lim 550kgs €1,280; AA 495kgs €1,100; AA 580kgs €1,280; Her 380kgs €790; Friesian 620kgs €1,190.
HEIFERS
Heifers too have shown a marked improvement this week.
Store heifers: under 400kgs made from €1.90 up to €2.30 per kilo. AA/Her averaged at €2.14 per kilo.
Butchers heifers: 400kgs+. These type of heifers made from €1.96 up to €2.41 per kilo with AA/Her averaging at €2.10 per kilo.
Lim 415kgs €920; AA 395kgs €880; AA 490kgs €1,080; Sim 577kgs €1,390; AA 625kgs €1,340.
CALF SALE
Our calf sale is now on Wednesday’s at 1pm. Numbers are just starting to rise, this week Friesian bulls made from €40 to €140. HER/AA bulls from €140 to €335 and heifers from €120 to €200.
SHEEP
Factory weights averaged at €2.70. Butchers weights averaged €2.75 per kilo; 51kg €142; 42kg €122; 49kg €138; 55kg €150; 44kg €124.
