Cork County Council has approved a €526 million budget for 2026 at a budget meeting on Monday, outlining increased investment in public services and community development, while confirming there will be no increase in the Annual Rate on Valuation (ARV) for commercial rates.
The 2026 budget focuses on frontline work, including roads maintenance, housing repairs, library operations, public conveniences, and estates taken in charge.
Housing remains one of the key priorities. €2.9 million has been allocated for the maintenance and improvement of local authority housing stock. This funding will support day-to-day repairs, energy efficiency upgrades, and the return of vacant units to use. In addition, the Council plans to continue supporting economic development initiatives, including investment in land acquisition and upgrades to industrial sites. A total of €678,000 has also been set aside for burial ground expansions, along with further funding directed at piers, harbours and climate action projects.
