Calls were made at a local council meeting last week for the regulation of e-scooters on footpaths, as local Cllr Noel McCarthy said the problem was ‘out of all proportion’. “It’s becoming an emergency,” he said.
“People are literally taking their lives into their hands coming in shopping. At least get them off of our footpaths, because they are dangerous”.
Councillors shared anecdotes of people pushing buggies or prams being at risk of being knocked down by an e-scooter, while Cllr Kay Dawson said she witnessed a collision between a walker and an e-scooter that approached from behind.
