There were warm wishes and happy memories in abundance as Burncourt woman, Nora Quirke, recently celebrated her 101st birthday surrounded by family, friends and neighbours.
Nora, who was born on March 27th, 1925 in Burncourt, marked the special occasion at St Martha’s Nursing Home, where she enjoyed visits from relations and friends, as well as music and dancing provided by Cahir Men’s Shed.
A special letter and medal from President Catherine Connelly was also presented to Nora as part of the celebrations. This is the second medal of congratulations received from a sitting president, after previously having received one from former president, Michael D. Higgins when celebrating her 100th birthday.
