The matter of access via the Brother’s Path at Upper Cork Street in Mitchelstown continues to be one of consternation locally, as it appears a gate is in the process of being installed at the upper entrance to the path (by the Leisure Centre/school entrance) in recent days, with a steel RSJ newly erected.
According to a source, locally a number of meetings have have been held on the matter of access via the path, which has been locked permanently since the beginning of the school term.
Prior to this, it was unlocked for access during school hours. Both the CBS Primary and Secondary Schools received solicitors’ letters at the beginning of the school year advising them the path was closed ‘until further notice’.
Cork County Council were also contacted by the same solicitors’ office, who were representing the claimant of one of the houses on Lower Cork Street.
