Small town boutiques are suffering in lockdown while large international conglomerates are thriving, that is the message from devastated shop owners.
The Avondhu has spoken to a number of people who own clothing shops across the region and they are telling a story of decline in sales and a financial struggle which may see many closing for good.
Agnes Walsh owns Carma Boutique in Fitzgerald Place in Fermoy and said she is struggling to survive as Lockdown 2.0 takes hold.
“The whole thing is unfair on us. I can’t sell online, don’t even want to, my shop is one where people come in and visit. It is unique what we are doing, I have customers who love to come into a shop and use it as a social outlet, that is gone now too.
