Beechfield residents oppose plans for GAA development

Around 130 signatures have been collected for a petition, in opposition to a proposed development at Fermoy GAA.

Residents of Beechfield Estate have outlined their concerns regarding the planning application, which is proposed to see a new entrance to the GAA grounds and car park developed on site. Access, it is proposed, will be via the L-1514-0 Beechfield Estate Road.

Planning permission had previously been granted to Fermoy GAA for development of a 22-space car park to the south of the site, however, this never went ahead. In documents submitted to Cork County Council with the current application, it is noted that in order to provide new access to the site, it is proposed to remove a circa 11.5m section of the historic stone wall bounding the site.
