Public meeting as Carraig residents seek WWTP solutions

A public meeting is due to take place in Carraig na bhFear later this month, as the village continues to seek a solution to stagnated development due to ongoing capacity issues with the wastewater treatment plant.

With the publication of the new Draft Cork Wastewater Strategy, it is now proposed that Carraig na bhFear Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) be decommissioned with flows to be transferred via a new wastewater transfer pipeline to Whitechurch, where a new wastewater transfer pumping station is to be constructed. 

Developments under these proposals are still several years away, and with a new special school on the horizon for the village, housing is urgently needed.
