There was a huge turnout for the 1916 commemoration in Ballylanders on Sunday, 20th March. In glorious sunshine what better way could we honour these great men who gave their lives for their country.

The main celebrant at the Mass was Fr. Bill Ryan Capuchin O.F.M. who gave us an account of the Capuchin Friars during Easter week. Concelebrated with Fr. Tom Breen, PP Ballylanders and Fr. Jimmy O’Donnell.

After Mass there was a wreath laying ceremony at the monument of Our Lady where the names of 13 men who gave their lives for Ireland are inscribed. The wreath was laid by Willie O’Mahony and Nora Casey, two oldest people in the parish, …
