Months of preparation came to a head last Saturday, when members of Araglin Community Council staged their much anticipated ‘Oscars Night’. Tickets were as scarce as hen’s teeth for an event that invited clubs to perform extracts from popular movies.
Locals rose to the occasion and a combination of powerful scenes, elaborate costumes, spectacular scenery and plenty humour ensured patrons were treated to several hours of top class entertainment.
The individuals charged with assessing the merits of the respective acts were experienced stage men, Brendan Hurley (Conna) and Will Motherway (Knockanore). In their contributions, they acknowledged the time and effort put in to all 12 productions.
