Appeal for witnesses to Clogheen fatality

Gardaí in Cahir are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Clogheen last weekend. The victim has been named as Ronald Waterman, living in Glenshask near Lismore, Co. Waterford.

Mr Waterman was killed when his car collided with a tree at Loughlin’s Bridge, Clogheen, on Sunday afternoon. The victim received treatment at the scene, but was later pronounced dead. 

The accident occurred at approximately 2.40pm on Sunday, and gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also appealing for any road users who were travelling in the area, and may have dashcam or camera footage, to contact them.

Cllr Marie Murphy of Clogheen paid tribute to the local people and and passers-by who assisted at the scene of the tragic accident and the gardaí, fire service and ambulance personnel. 

Mr Waterman was described by Lismore locals as a quiet man, who lived alone in a thatched cottage, a man who ‘kept himself to himself’.
