There was a strong turnout in Ballyhooly Community Centre on Friday night last as former Paralympian, artist and Ballyhooly local, Tom Leahy, launched his life story in print, in a book co-authored by Emmett Coffey.

‘Here For A Reason’ details Mr Leahy’s extraordinary life, from his upbringing and the challenges he faced growing up with cerebral palsy in the 1960s and ‘70s, to his entry into the world of elite paralympic sport and later, how he first delved into art.

Emmett Coffey, co-author and a good friend of Tom who is a lecturer at MTU Cork, worked closely with Mr Leahy over the past few years to put his life story into book form. For Tom, this was an opportunity for him to tell his own story in full, having shared so much of his life publically already through his sporting and artistic endeavours.
