The talent just keeps coming! Not only does the area have two talented girls in The Voice of Ireland competition but another talented young girl from Kilworth is through to the finals of the Irish Daily Star Teenstars singing contest.

16-year-old Alison McCormack, known as Ali to her family and friends, will feature in the finals of the competition which take place on Easter Sunday, March 31 in Clane, Co Kildare.

The contest to find Ireland's most talented children and give them a platform to progress has another element too, as a quarter of each entrant's registration fee goes to children's charities. It's the inaugural year of the competition and has proved to be extremely popular and well contested.

Alison is just one song away from a €5,000 prize. Thousands of hopeful teens commenced their journey in October of last year with selection heats held throughout the four provinces. Ali qualified to enter the Munster heats and progressed to the Munster final on March 3rd from where she quaified for the All-Ireland semi final on March 9th and she now competes with 31 other finalists on March 31st.

Ali, a Transition Year student at Coláiste an Chraoibhín in Fermoy, says she's really enjoyed the competition to date and is looking forward to singing in the final.

"It's really exciting. I never thought I'd go this far in the competition. I'm really loking forward to singing for the celebrity judges. Ryan O'Shaughnessy from Britain's Got Talent and Kim Hayden from The Voice of Ireland and Ireland's Eurovision singer Ryan Dolan are the judges, along with Paula Twomey from TNT Promotions, who are the organisers."

"The top five finalists each receive a cash prize and a cash amount for a charity of their choice," Alison explained. "I'm looking forward to having some of my family and friends there with me on the day. It's a long way to travel but their support has been great," she said.

Ali will be well known to theatre goers in the Fermoy area as she features regularly in the annual pantomime in the town. She most recently played the role of Princess Jasmine in 'Aladdin' and featured with the ensemble of 'Hey, Mr Director!' at Cork Opera House.

Doors open at the All-Ireland final of the Teen Stars Singing Contest at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane at 2pm on Easter Sunday. So, anyone from the area who finds themselves in that neck of the woods on Easter Sunday is invited along to support this talented local girl.
