‘Aerodrome’ information board unveiled

An attractive and strategically located information/history board was unveiled at a ceremony held at Fitzgerald Camp, Fermoy (The Aerodrome) last Thursday morning.

The event was organised by Post 25 members of the Irish United Nations Veterans’ Association (I.U.N.V.A.) whose chairman is Thomas McCarthy. Mr McCarthy welcomed guests to the unveiling which was carried out by Brigid Flavin and Sinead Kelly – Brigid is the partner of the late Ken Kelly, who initiated the project, but who unfortunately passed away in May of this year; Sinead is Ken’s daughter. Ken’s sisters, Catherine Kelly and Evelyn Quirke, were also in attendance.

They joined local clergy, former and current soldiers, political representatives, Cork County Council personnel (Cultural Officer, Conor Nelligan) and I.U.N.V.A. representatives for what a solemn and dignified event.
