Having previously laid claim to owning Ireland’s smallest horse, Tallow resident Margaret Murphy has welcomed a new Falabella foal to her stable this week.
Having been born on the 1st of May, the colt was christened Bealtaine after an 11-month pregnancy by her mother Mollie, who herself only stands at 26 inches tall.
Ms Murphy and her Falabellas made national and Avondhu headlines in 2007 when a former resident Patsy, was crowned the smallest horse in Ireland at just 17 inches tall.
The newest addition to the stable, born last Sunday morning, stands at roughly one foot. Bealtaine’s father Jacksie is fully grown at 22 inches.
“He’s flying around the yard all week,” Ms Murphy said.
