Cup football comes to Castlelyons this Saturday when local side, Castlebridge Celtic lock horns with top Kerry outfit, Killarney Celtic in a bid to secure a last 8 spot in this year's FAI Youth Cup.
The east Cork representatives aren't unduly concerned by their underdogs tag and indeed Paul McNulty's talented squad are relishing the task of pitting their skills against such highly rated opposition.
Accustomed to playing in front of a dedicated group of hardcore fans, Castlebridge Celtic FC are bracing themselves for a bumper crowd in what is one of the biggest days in the club's history.
According to club chairman, Paul Donnellan, the lads are in the last 16 on merit and won't be over awed by the occasion.
"We've a a skilful team with an excellent work ethic and there's no reason why our boys can't put up a good show, it's a big day for the club and we hope to have strong local support" says Paul. Their cup run to date has seen Castlebridge overcome, Cobh Wanderers, Mallow and the always formidable, Douglas Hall.
This week, manager Paul McNulty and his assistant, Martin Duggan took advantage of the mid-term break to finalize plans for Saturday's decider, which has  a 2.30pm kick-off.
On Tuesday the boys enjoyed a good session that combined, speed drills and physical training with work on set pieces.
Presently accommodating 9 teams Castlebridge Celtic is your typical closely knit village club that relies on the the goodwill of parents, the dedication of club volunteers and the generosity of local businesses to keep going.
One of its most successful projects is the club academy which continually nurtures new talent - it also has access to its own astro turf training facility. It's an especially significant occasion for the likes of Joe Hartnett, Gene O'Sullivan, Mary Murphy and Jim McMurtry who have committed countless hours to the Castlebridge Celtic cause. The club are also grateful to local FAS workers who are helping prepare the venue for Saturday's clash - kick off is 2.30pm, admission is free.
