The north Cork village of Shanballymore was a hive of activity last weekend as it played host to a very successful summer festival.
Described as a ‘fantastic success’ by organisers, proceedings got underway with a treasure hunt, which was won by Sharon Roche and grandchildren, Donagh, Dáithí and Siún Fitzgerald. The O’Leary family received a prize for fastest time. Thanks here to organiser John O’Donovan, who ensured participants took in the new pitch walkway and village itself, learning some historical facts about the area on their hunt.
Chairperson of Shanballymore Events Group, Pádraig Fitzgerald, acted as quizmaster for the well attended table quiz. With a good variety of questions, winners were declared as Marian and Jamie Sheedy, Bridie Murphy and Zoe Fitzgerald.
