Just 35 parking tickets have been issued in Mitchelstown so far this year, as local businesses renew calls for more consistent enforcement across the centre of town.
Figures obtained by The Avondhu show that 145 tickets were issued in 2023, rising to 193 in 2024, before falling back by over 20% to 149 last year.
Mitchelstown does not have a dedicated traffic warden and instead has partial enforcement through a shared warden service. Local businesses and representatives alike, however, believe the warden’s visits are too infrequent to provide an effective deterrent.
