With Government restrictions gradually beginning to ease, people aged over 70, who have been cocooning for almost six weeks, are now being permitted to exercise outside.
The HSE has cautioned that these individuals, who medically are more susceptible to catching Covid-19, should avoid personal contact with others and maintain social distancing at all points during their walks.
However, sticking to these guidelines is proving to be difficult. One resident of Conna, spoke with The Avondhu and described how avoiding close contact with people is a major challenge.
“Now that older people are venturing out for short walks, what I am seeing is that people are not giving way to them on the roads and footpaths,” he said …
