Shantelle Sheehan from Doneraile has secured her place in the Irish National Taekwondo team that will compete in the European Championships in Bosnia in October.

The martial arts star won double gold and a silver medal at last month’s Leinster Championships in Dublin and was also adjudged best junior female.

Shantelle said that she was ‘thrilled’ and ‘honoured’ to be chosen as part of the Irish team and is looking forward to representing her country again.

In 2017 she won bronze in the European Championships in Bulgaria and was a silver medallist at the Dutch Open.

Earlier this year she won the Mallow and District Sports and Leisure Award for the third time.
