The owner of a Mitchelstown filling station has expressed his relief this week that no one was hurt during a daring raid which took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Christopher Myers, owner of the Maxol filling station on the Dublin Road, said he was ‘devastated’ by the burglary but was relieved that no member of staff was hurt during the break-in.

“At least nobody was killed or seriously hurt because if a member of staff had walked in on this gang during the robbery, then God only knows what they would have done,” he said.

Gardaí in Mitchelstown are investigating the elaborate burglary which saw break in through a back door at approximately 2.50am.
