A 13 week weight loss campaign concluded with a function held in Gallahue’s Hall, Ballylanders last Sunday night. This initiative, which struck a chord with the public, attracted 75 participants, all of whom undertook a personalised programme of dieting and exercise.
In total, 90.2 stone was lost by those who signed up. A fundraiser for the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and Cliona’s Foundation, ‘Shed The Pounds’ was held in association with Frewen’s Fitness in Glenroe.
Speaking at last Sunday night’s final weigh in, Colette Frewen, said the project had been a great success. “Greater awareness surrounding the benefits of weight loss has been created, friendships have been made and a wonderful community spirit built up over the 13 weeks” she said.
CLOSE TO 5,000 TEXTS SENT
Organising committee member, Dan Gallahue, said Shed The Pounds wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise and professionalism of everyone at Frewen’s Fitness. Underscoring the level of communication that was required, Dan estimated that close on 5,000 text messages had been sent out to weight loss volunteers during the course of the campaign.
The evening consisted of the final weight in, a medals presentation to every participant, awards to those deemed most successful (Knockadea/Ballintubber were adjudged to have lost most weight), entertainment courtesy of the Ryan & Whelan School of Dance, a well supported raffle and music by Marie and Adam.
Well done to everyone concerned, stay active and continue to embrace a health conscious lifestyle.
