A debut publication by a Fermoy wildlife enthusiast has become a best seller.

‘Irish Birds – Their Nests & Eggs’ continues to be snapped up by ever increasing numbers, so much so that author, Christy Dorgan has just finished the book’s 5th edition. It will be a remarkable 7th print run for publishers, Carraig Print from Carrigtwohill.

Thrilled with what everyone agrees is a fantastic reference book, perfectionist Christy, believes this edition is the definitive version.

“4 additional pages have been added to the book that contains 64 illustrations (some of which he has coloured himself), we’ve also redesigned the cover which looks really attractive” Christy told The Avondhu this week.

Equally popular with professionals and enthusiastic amateurs, the book is also a huge hit with children of all ages.

Those who set quiz questions may also be in the market for ‘Irish Birds’ as the new edition contains the collective names for different species, ie, a ‘murder’ of crows, a ‘parliament’ of rooks, an ‘exultation’ of sky larks, a ‘confusion’ of chiffchaffs and a ‘hermitage’ of song thrushes – to mention just a few.

Christy takes this opportunity to thank everyone who helped get the book off the ground and of course the public who have helped him secure ‘best seller’ status.
