Well wishes, tributes and fond memories were shared this week and over the past weekend as Garda Martin Healy retired from the force having served some 30 years as a Garda.

Martin Healy began his Garda career in Naas in 1991, finding his way back to his native Cork in 2000, first to Midleton and then Mitchelstown before finally settling in Rathcormac Garda Station for the last seven years of service.

While he has now retired, it is understood that Martin will remain a familiar figure on the roads around Fermoy and beyond, owing to his keen interest in long-distance and marathon running.
