On the 27th of January, the staff and students of Bishop Murphy Memorial School held a Virtual Amber Flag day!
This year we are hoping to achieve the Amber Flag which is awarded by Pieta House for promoting positive mental health in our school.
Positive mental health is so important at the moment and to try and boost our moods and encourage wellbeing, the staff and students got involved in this event.
On the day, pupils were given a range of activities to complete. It has been widely reported that exercise and physical activity can produce chemicals in our brains called endorphins which can improve our mood and reduce negative feelings.
Some pupils (and staff) also showed off their artistic skills and made posters with some wonderful messages of positivity.
Pupils and staff dressed up in their bright colours to honour the day and our commitment to achieving the flag from Pieta House.
‘We came together while staying apart’ and learned that our school community can continue to thrive albeit virtually.
Well done to everyone who took part.
And remember, “you’re never fully dressed without a smile”.
