Fermoy based charity Village 17 are holding their annual coffee morning on Thursday, October 18 at Fermoy Community Resource Centre to raise funds to ship clothes and toys to people living in poverty in Thailand and Laos.

Last year’s coffee morning was a great success, raising nearly €800 which, along with €600 donated separately, bought a new generator for the village school in Ban Nong Khao Klang, a north Thai village which is located 1,000 kilometres from the charities base in Banglamang.

The school's electricity is powered by a solar panal which doesn’t work during the rainy season and they have no wired electricity to replace it.

Therefore, the new generator purchased from last year's coffee morning fundraiser, is an invaluable resource.

The remainder of the money from last year's coffee morning was used to pay for import duties on a shipment of clothes, medicines and donations.

All are welcome to come to the Fermoy Community Resource Centre between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Thursday 18 for this year's coffee morning.
