Fermoy may be limited in the types of new development it can attract to the town under OPW guidelines.

Despite spending €32 million on flood defence works, Fermoy may be limited in the types of new development it can attract to the town under OPW guidelines dealing with planning systems and flood risk management, drawn up after the flood relief works were approved.

Senior engineer with Cork County Council Patricia Griffin, was briefing local councillors on a preliminary consultation document regarding the Local Area Plan Review, at last week’s monthly meeting of Fermoy Municipal Authority.

A draft Local Area Plan will be published in November 2016 ...
