In a landmark development for education in Fermoy town, two long-standing primary schools have officially announced their amalgamation to form a new co-educational Catholic school, which will be known as ‘Holy Family Primary School’. The schools involved are Presentation Primary School and Bishop Murphy Memorial School.

Presentation Primary traces its roots to the Presentation Sisters, founded in 1838, and has long been a pillar of Catholic education on College Road. Bishop Murphy Memorial School occupies a distinguished early 20th century building on MacCurtain Street and has served generations of local families with a strong community spirit.

Both schools will mark their shared histories and traditions with a programme of celebrations and commemorations across the coming year, honouring the Presentation Sisters’ heritage and Bishop Murphy’s century-spanning legacy as they prepare to unite.
