An new initiative to rejuvenate rural Ireland, was announced on national television on Saturday night by Fermoy’s own, Dr Tom Cavanagh.
Speaking on The Ray Darcy Show, Mr Cavanagh said a CEO is to be appointed by the Tomar Trust to find out what it is that rural towns and villages need, to keep them alive.
The trust, set up by Mr Cavanagh and his late wife Marie, will help finance projects or other initiatives that would revitalise dying rural communities.
“It would be very sad and detrimental to Ireland in its totality, if rural Ireland were to die,” Dr Cavanagh told Mr D’Arcy
