There was a wealth of talent on show at the Bright Sparks Variety Show, as little tots and growing stars had their moment to shine on the stage at their end of term show.

Claire Devaney told The Avondhu that it is a great way for the parents and people from the community to see what the children have been doing all year and to see how far they have come along.

"It's also nice to have something to work towards and the standard is always very high," she said.

After school in Bright Sparks, there are classes in acting, music, drama and a variety of dance, and Claire said that the variety show also gives parents ideas about what else they would like their children to learn. Claire subsequently takes this on board to change things and bring new elements into Bright Sparks.

She added that Irish dancing was brought in after they saw a demonstration and it grew from there. She said that they bring in the very best teachers and instructors to get the best out of the students and to help them to shine.

"Learning something new is very important for children as they get to meet new people and develop a new skill, but performing in the show also helps to boost their confidence and bring them out of themselves," Claire explained.

There were more than 350 people at the variety show which took place in the CBS Secondary school hall. Claire said they are looking forward to starting the next term in September and she congratulated everyone who took part and did so well in the show.
