Several local towns and villages reported a ‘smell of smoke’ in the area on Thursday last after a change in wind direction blew smoke from the major fire at Slievenamon, Co Tipperary towards the West Waterford and North East Cork direction.
The fire, which began the Monday prior, July 20th, had raged for days despite the efforts of a multi-agency emergency response.
By Thursday, some local residents expressed concerns regarding a smell of smoke in the area, asking online whether there had been fires overnight in their respective localities.
