Councillor John Pratt has thanked Waterford City and County Council for honouring its commitment to dig out the strand pool in Lismore, following campaigning by the Lismore Save Our Strand group.
He said the campaign, which last year succeeded in having the strand pool dug out after a lapse of many years, has ‘completely revitalised interest in the strand facility’.
“Locals and visitors alike are enjoying both swimming and socialising at the strand, despite the unpredictable weather,” he told The Avondhu. 2016 also sees Irish Water Safety lessons return to the strand.
Swim and life saving classes will take place between Monday, August 1st and Friday, August 5th.
Registration for the lessons will be open at Lismore Strand between 4-6.30pm on Tuesday, July 26th.
The cost for the week is €25 per child. Ring buoys are provided at the Strand for safety of all users.
