Mallow TD Seán Sherlock has received assurances from the Health Service Executive that there are no plans to close Mallow General Hospital following Deputy Sherlock’s questioning of service levels at the hospital tackling Covid-19.

“I have written proof from the CEO of the South/South West Hospital Group that there are no plans to close Mallow General Hospital, which provides essential services to the people of North Cork and the surrounding areas,” Deputy Sherlock said this week.

“The South/South West Hospital Group are committed to ensuring that MGH continues to develop services locally and to support this growth, have provided funding for the upgrading and refurbishing of infrastructure and facilities within the hospital.

“I will continue to maintain a close eye on operations at the Hospital to ensure that no services are reduced.”

“It’s important we acknowledge the total work the staff are doing and I wish those who are presently on sick leave well and a speedy recovery,” he concluded.
