BMW Group Ireland has been named OEM of the Year (Passenger Vehicles) at the Business Post Sustainable Business Awards 2026, which took place last night at The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. The award recognises BMW’s leadership in sustainable mobility and innovation, with the new BMW iX3 receiving particular praise from the judging panel.
The Business Post Sustainable Business Awards celebrate organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to sustainability while delivering commercial success. BMW Group Ireland secured the award following its shortlisting in the OEM of the Year (Passenger Vehicles)
In announcing the award, the judges stated: “BMW Ireland has marked the start of a new era with the arrival of the iX3, the first model built on the Neue Klasse platform and the 2026 World Car of the Year. With a range of up to 805km and charging at up to 400kW, it sets a new benchmark for premium electric motoring. The judges praised a manufacturer that is not only leading in design and technology, but future-proofing its entire range.”
The award reflects BMW Group Ireland’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable mobility and supporting Ireland’s transition to lower-emission transport solutions. It also highlights the significance of the BMW iX3, the first Neue Klasse model, which introduces a new generation of BMW electric vehicle technology, digitalisation and design.
Helen Westby, Managing Director, BMW Group Ireland, said: “We are honoured to receive this recognition from the Business Post and their Sustainable Business Awards. Sustainability is a central pillar of the BMW Group’s strategy and guides our decisions across the entire value chain, from responsible sourcing and production through to the products and services we deliver to customers.”
“The BMW iX3 represents a major milestone for BMW and demonstrates our determination to shape the future of premium electric mobility. As the first Neue Klasse model, it brings a significant leap forward in technology, efficiency and customer experience. This award is a testament to the commitment of our employees, retailer partners and colleagues across the BMW Group who continue to drive innovation and sustainable progress.”
BMW Group has long embedded sustainability into its corporate strategy, with a holistic approach spanning supply chains, production, vehicle use and the circular economy. The company continues to pursue ambitious emissions reduction targets while expanding its portfolio of electrified vehicles and investing in sustainable technologies.
The BMW iX3 is the latest expression of that strategy, combining long-distance electric driving capability of up to 805km, charging speeds of up to 400kW and the latest generation of BMW technology within a premium Sports Activity Vehicle.
