Shauna Maunsell joins de Staic ‘by the light of the silvery moon’

By the Light of the Silvery Moon with Aindrias de Staic takes to the stage at Saint George’s on Saturday, 11th November at 8pm, joined by local musical talent Shauna Maunsell – this extravaganza is not to be missed.

Making his return to Mitchelstown following his captivating and entertaining mix of song and story at last year’s Fit-Ups Festival, de Staic is leading a revival in new Irish storytelling, through his rhythmic and energetic approach to storytelling which has won many awards in recent years, including an All-Ireland medal at the Fleadh Cheol in Mullingar and a Celtic Media Award 2018 in Wales. Aindrias’ style is a fast paced, energetic new approach to the ancient Irish art form, yet his work is firmly rooted in the traditional storytelling styles of the west of Ireland.

This exciting new collaboration with foley artist Mosies Mas Garcia is supported by the Culture Moves Europe Project, which brings the audience a new experience in storytelling by combining the spoken words of the stories with a live foley soundtrack accompaniment created on stage.

Inspired by his work in folklore, nature and the traditional arts, Aindrias brings us on journeys through bumpy roads and hidden boreens, through scary scenes and magical places. This interesting collaboration with Spanish multi-instrumentalist Moise Mas Garcia takes the audience to a magical place beyond the waves, where west of Ireland humour and antics of rural Ireland meets the fervour and gusto of Spanish rhythm, with blasts of Wild Atlantic wit.

Shauna Maunsell on stage, appearing next month in St George’s.

Joining Aindrias and making her Saint George’s debut, local musician and performer Shauna Maunsell will perform everything and anything from Sean nós, country/ folk to pop indie and jazz blues. Shauna is a recent graduate from UL from the Irish World Academy of music and dance. She is an aspiring performer. Shauna accompanies herself on the acoustic guitar. Audiences most recently saw Shauna enthral crowds gathered for the Mitchelstown Busking Festival held during the Indiependence Music Festival on the main street in the town. It was no surprise when Shauna was announced as the winner of Best Female performer.
