Fermoy man, Shane Hurley, was awarded the Elite Fighting Championship lightweight MMA title on Saturday, June 21. Known locally for his skill in Karate, Shane trains in MMA with Samson Martial Arts under coach Dylan Sheehan.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Mr Sheehan said that the win is a big one for Shane.
“It’s great to see it. I knew it would come someday. I was saying it to his dad. He was with me from the start and I knew the day would come when he would get a belt,” Mr Sheehan said.
