
Several serious issues regarding Carraig na bhFear’s wastewater treatment system were highlighted at a meeting on Monday night, including allegations that raw wastewater has entered the river.
Village residents, who The Avondhu understands live near the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), reported that ‘overflow’ from the plant is flowing into the Cloughnagashee River.
Effluent from the over-capacity plant, described as ‘almost untreated’, is allegedly entering the river, which joins with the Glashaboy River, before entering Glanmire. It’s alleged that several times in the past few months, raw wastewater has entered the river.
Nearby residents have also raised concerns regarding an odour coming from the treatment plant …
