Issues of security may stymie plans to bring a replica of the Lismore Crozier to the town. In order to house the replica crozier in the town’s heritage centre for public viewing during the town’s 400th anniversary year, it is necessary to satisfy the curators of the piece, the National Museum, that the premises is suitable and has adequate security.

Personnel from the National Museum inspected the Heritage Cente recently, the monthly meeting of Lismore Town Council was advised on Monday night. A number of security issues were identified which could make any proposed exhibition costly, members were warned.

It bore out some members concerns that the cost of proceeding with the plan would be prohibitive. The matter is being considered at present by management of the Heritage Centre who will revert back to the town council.
