Kilfinane’s Mike O’Hara, the principal of Scoil Pól secondary school in the village, was singled out for a special award at an evening event held by the local councillors of the Cappamore Kilmallock Municipal District last week, in special recognition for his contribution to the Kilfinane community.

The seven local councillors honoured the achievements of many of the district’s ‘local heroes’ last Thursday and Mr O’Hara was included for his work overseeing the recent expansion of the school, as well as the development of a dedicated autism room and unit.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Mr O’Hara said that it was an honour to receive the award, on behalf of ‘all the board of management and the staff here in Scoil Pól’.
