Limerick City and County Council has announced that Motor Tax services which are currently provided at Lissanalta House, Dooradoyle will re-locate to Council Buildings, Dooradoyle from Monday, 8th June. The Motor Tax Office at Lissanalta House will close at 3.30pm on Friday, 5th June 2015.

Motor Tax facilities in the Council offices in Merchant’s Quay, Limerick city centre and in Newcastle West are currently unaffected by this decision. In order to increase customer service, the Motor Tax offices in Council Buildings, Dooradoyle, Merchant’s Quay and Newcastle West will extend opening hours from Monday, 8th June from 9.15am-4pm Monday to Friday.

Tom Gilligan, Director of Finance, Motor Tax and ICT with Limerick City and County Council said the majority of vehicle owners across Limerick are now doing their motor tax business online and the trend continues to rise.

Mr Gilligan noted that many of those surveyed while renewing their motor tax in person in Limerick said they continue to do so “out of habit” rather than an inability to do so online.

“More than 50% of those surveyed indicated that they would consider doing their business on-line in the future, which is something I would encourage in an effort to further improve waiting times and overall service delivery,” he stated.
