Billa O'Connell and David McInerney have been presented with Cork Person of the Month awards to mark their careers in entertainment, which stretch back to the 1940's.

"They have been exemplary national ambassadors for Cork through comedy and song for nearly seventy years and are held in very high esteem and affection by generations of Corkonians," said awards organiser, Manus O'Callaghan.

Freeman of Cork Billa O'Connell, and acclaimed baritone David McInerney, have been involved in professional and amateur theatre from pantomime to opera, musicals to drama, concerts to radio & TV and to starring in such iconic series of the past as 'Up Cork', 'Summer Revels' and 'The Swans'. Who will ever forget their magic performances in what is considered the best Late Late Show ever, back in 1982 (still available to view on Youtube 'The Late Late Show in Cork').

Billa and David's names, now go forward with the other Persons of Month chosen this year, for possible selection as Cork Persons of the Year at a gala awards lunch to be held on January 15 next year.
